Hybrid Working
Following the global pandemic of 2020/2021, the way in which organisations operate changed forever. Hybrid working, where people have the option of working from the office, home or public spaces, is commonplace.
The Challenge
Giving people the freedom to choose from where they work means that, at any one time, there could be people who are present in the office, whilst others are working remotely from a location of their choice. The challenges this creates are in:
Communication – people are more or less comfortable about speaking via screens
Technology – the systems we use may not be up fully hybrid working (both in the office and at home)
Co-ordination – it takes extra effort to co-ordinate with team mates who are working remotely and the remote colleagues could be left out of small exchanges between those who are physically together
Connections – people could feel disconnected not only from the work, but also from the social aspect which creates meaning as well as bonding people more closely to the organization. The consequences can be less happy and committed employees
Culture – if people rarely come to the office or spend quality time with other colleagues, an organisation’s distinctive “feel” may be lost.
How we can help
We can work with you to create a positive hybrid team culture which enables your people to collaborate effectively from wherever they may be working. We will look at the current culture within the team and help diagnose what can be done to create the desired culture so that everyone feels connected and valued.
Our extensive experience of developing people’s ability to collaborate well with others enables us to develop interventions which meet your needs and addresses the challenges of hybrid working.
